Electronic Delivery Order System |
American Stevedoring accepts web based Electronic Delivery Orders which allow truckers to pick up containers without the need for an Original Delivery Order.
A trucker must be a member of the Trucker Service Package (TSP) to participate in the program. The TSP member maintains a "watch list" of containers. The watch list, which shows the container status in summary form, may be reviewed at any time. When the container becomes available, an e-mail is sent to the trucker notifying him of the availabilty and informing him of any insurance or demurrage issues pending.
The Steamship line or member of the "Broker Service Package" (BSP) may assign containers to a trucking company. When the Steamship line or BSP member makes the assignment the system will assign a pick up number. When the container is assigned to the trucker, it is placed on the trucker's watch list and noted with the name of person and company which assigned the container to him. If the container was already on the trucker's watch list, then it is updated to reflect the assignment by the steamship line or BSP member.
When an assigned container becomes available for release, the trucker may then a ssign a driver (by SEA LINK number) to the container. The driver may come to the pier without a delivery order, however, he MUST have his SEA LINK card and know the pick-up number that was given to the steamship line or BSP member. The trucker will not be able to look up the pick up number for a container. The trucker must get the pick up number directly from the steamship line or BSP member. ASI clerical staff will not be able to look up the pick up number, nor will they be allowed to produce a TIR without the pick up number. Security and communication of the pick up number rests solely between the Steamship line or BSP member and the trucking company.
The system has been in use since 1999 and has proven to be mutually beneficial to all brokers, steamship lines, and truckers.
The TSP offers excellent container status monitoring abilities, Trucker activity reports, and interchange/driver monitoring.
THIS IS A FREE SERVICE PROVIDED BY ASI
- Container Monitoring
- Containers may be reviewed in the same manner as our open system. If the container is not releaseable due to incomplete AMS release, Freight release, customs examination, AQI examination, headload stripping, or barge movement, the trucker has the ability (via a single mouse click) to add the container to his "watch list".
- The trucker may view all the containers on his watch list on a single page at any time. The page displays the containers in table format which clearly shows the current release status. If more detailed information is required, the container numbers are hotlinked to the container details (including container history).
- When a container becomes releasable, an e-mail will be sent alerting the trucker company to pick up the container. The e-mail will contain information regarding the terminal location, interchange status, demurrage amounts due and exam amounts due (if any).
- Trucker Activity Report:
- The activity report allows a trucker to list all activity for selected date range. The report lists time, driver name, container number, chassis number, TIR number, sorted by date and type of movement (In Full, In Empty, Out Full, Out Empty or chassis only).
- Electronic Delivery Order
- TSP members can take full advantage Electronic Delivery Order System. Steamship Lines and/or members of the BSP may nominate you to pick up a container. When you are nominated, the container will be added to your watch list (if it was not entered by you previously). When the container becomes releaseable, you may assign a driver to the container for pick up.

The BSP offers excellent container status monitoring abilities. The broker may maintain his own watchlist of containers to monitor (see TSP above).
The BSP allows a broker, or Importer with a Customs filer ID, to assign a container to trucking company (by SCAC). When the assignment is confirmed, the system will provide a "Pick-Up Number" and add the container to the assigned trucker's watchlist. The trucker will be alerted with the name of the broker/importer who added the container to his watchlist. When the trucker attempts to pick up the container, he must know the "Pick-Up Number". The trucker will not be able to get the pick-up number from our website nor our customer service department. It is the broker's responsibility to tell the trucking company the "Pick-up Number".
Members of the Broker Service Package with good credit status at American Stevedoring may guarantee charges on the Web. Call Eric Seal at (973) 522-0999 ext 268 for details.Join Now
